A different date night

One day last week, Kennedy asked if she and I could go on a date.  So, Rich and I set Friday night aside for date night with our kids.  They each got to plan what they wanted to do on their date.  McGuire wanted to go look at motorcycles while Kennedy wanted to go paint pottery.  It was fun to watch and listen as they really put a lot of thought and discussion into what they wanted to do.

Rich got home from work on Friday and we were getting ready to all head out the door.  We had thought it would be fun to all go to dinner together and then go on our individual dates.  As we were walking out the door, Kennedy said, "Daddy, can I PLEASE just eat with mom and no one else?"  It was the sweetest thing and still brings tears to my eyes!  It is good to know that through all the "don't do this, please do that, go to time-out, pick up your room, etc." she remembers the "I love you, let's read a book together, let's cuddle, etc" It meant so much that through it all she wanted to just have me and only me for one night...and I couldn't have been happier!

Off we headed to the pottery place where she painted a unicorn pink and blue.  We then ate dinner and headed to Blockbuster where she chose the movie Pete's Dragon.  We came home, made a fort, popped some popcorn and watched our movie together.  It was great to spend one on one time with my little girl!

McGuire LOVED eating at In and Out burger with dad and was thrilled to tell me about the motorcycles he got to sit on.  The first thing he said to me when he walked in was, "Mom, I asked daddy to buy me a motorcyle and he told me no!"  You would think the kid has never been told no before he was so shocked by it!  Zach enjoyed the night with daddy too.

Thanks kiddos for asking us out!  We can't wait until our next date night! :)
